One grid was
never enough.
Most 360 tools give you a number. We give you ten lenses on the same person, performance, potential, trust, conduct, ownership, communication, and more, aggregated from the people who actually work with them.

Ten lenses, not one.
A single Performance × Potential grid flattens people. We use ten, because someone can be a strong executor and a weak communicator, or trusted by peers but invisible to leadership. The shape of someone's strengths is the insight.
The classic. Who's delivering now vs. who has headroom.
Results matter. So does how you got there.
Ships work, lifts the team, or both?
Skilled and trusted are not the same thing.
Meeting the bar vs. carrying the culture.
Thinks big, gets it done, or stuck between?
Starts strong vs. closes the loop.
Clear, aware, and reads the room, or one of three?
Great when on, or great every time?
Heard, believed, both, or neither?
Three steps. One report.
The subject scores themselves on all 10 grids before anyone else can. That's how a real gap emerges.
Reviewers score on the same 10 grids. Their individual answers stay private; only aggregated results are ever shared.
Strengths. Risks. Relationship-group insights. A 30-day plan and a 90-day theme. Not a number, a direction. Built for managers who'd rather have a useful conversation than defend a score.
Built by people who got tired of single-rater talent reviews.
The 9 box grid was developed by McKinsey in the 1970s. It's been used and misused for fifty years. We rebuilt it around what HR research actually says works: multiple raters, defined criteria, self-assessment as a baseline, and aggregated peer signal, not one manager's gut.
Big-company HR software wasn't built for you. Spreadsheets don't scale past a handful of people. 9Box sits in the gap, structured enough to be fair, light enough to actually run.
Individual scores are never visible. Only aggregated results are ever shared. No one ever sees who said what, which is the only way honest feedback happens.
Built in the UK. Free while we're in beta because we'd rather learn from real teams than lock the door behind a paywall.
Free while we're in beta.
Every workspace gets unlimited cycles, all ten grids, and the full report, at no cost. When we move out of beta, existing workspaces stay on a founding-member rate. No surprise pricing, no migration, no holding your data hostage.
Frequently asked
Who can see my individual review?
No one. Individual reviewer scores are never shown to the subject, their manager, or HR. Only aggregated results across all reviewers are ever shared. Reviewers must remain anonymous for the system to work.
How many reviewers do I need per person?
We recommend at least five, typically the subject's manager, two or three peers, and one or two direct reports if they have them. The report only shows aggregated data once enough reviewers have responded to protect anonymity.
How long does a cycle take to run?
Setup takes about ten minutes. Reviewers usually complete their scores in 15 to 25 minutes. The report is generated as soon as enough responses are in. End-to-end, a typical cycle wraps inside two weeks.
Is this a replacement for performance reviews?
No. It's a complement. Performance reviews look backward at outcomes. 9Box looks at the shape of someone's strengths across ten dimensions, better for development conversations, succession planning, and feedback than for compensation decisions.
What happens to our data after beta?
Your data stays yours. Existing workspaces will keep all historical cycles and reports when we move out of beta. We'll never put data behind a paywall you didn't agree to.
Can I try it before signing up?
Yes, there's a live demo report you can read without signing up. It uses seeded data for a fictional employee (Jordan Lee) and shows exactly what a real report looks like.
